How our smart cold chain monitoring platform works
Pharmaceutical Package (at warehouse or in transit)
IoT sensors (temperature, humidity, and GPS) are attached to the packaging. Sensors collect real-time data on temperature, humidity, and location of the package.
Sensor Communication to Edge Gateway
Sensors continuously transmit data to the Edge Gateway using short-range wireless protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, RFID, Zigbee, or LoRa). The Edge Gateway performs initial filtering and local processing (e.g., threshold checking for temperature deviations).
Edge Gateway to Cloud Communication
Processed data from the Edge Gateway is transmitted to the Cloud in real-time through a cellular network (4G/5G) or satellite connection, depending on location. Data may also be transmitted periodically to save bandwidth or energy, with emergency transmissions occurring when thresholds are breached.
Cloud Processing and Analytics
Once the data reaches the Cloud, it is stored in a secure database. Machine learning algorithms analyze incoming data to detect anomalies or predict potential issues (e.g., risk of temperature excursions in certain regions or weather conditions). If an issue is detected, the system generates alerts for immediate action.
User Interface: Dashboard and Mobile App
Users (supply chain managers, distributors, etc.) can monitor the status of all shipments in real-time via a web-based dashboard. Mobile apps provide instant notifications and alerts for issues like temperature deviations, shipment delays, or route problems.
Actionable Alerts and Notifications
Alerts are sent to the mobile app and email in case of a temperature breach, allowing stakeholders to take corrective action (e.g., adjusting the route, changing the storage environment).
